It was so fulfilling raising awareness of palm oil’s social and environmental issues. Out of the few dozen people we spoke with, about half didn’t know about the challenges associated with palm oil, which made it all the more worthwhile attending.
As a bonus, shoutout to our neighboring booth Ann Arbor Wild Ones for the free native plants!

University of Michigan
April 21st - 23rd, 2025
On top of attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn Sustainability Fest, the Palm-to-Palm team also took part in the UM Sustainable Procurement Conference.
Jenny: “I am grateful for the chance to learn how institutional purchasing decisions can drive real change and contribute to sustainable food systems. We engaged in discussions about ethical sourcing and connected with others who are working to transform institutional dining, all while sharing Palm-to-Palm’s mission.”
Daniel: “It was so empowering to connect with a wide array of changemakers who are passionate about more sustainable and just food systems. The poster fair, tabling, and our workshop were invaluable opportunities to raise awareness of palm oil issues and brainstorm innovative ways we can take our initiative forward. We’re eager to participate in this conference again!”
We would like to thank the conference organizers andThe Jane Goodall Institute for sponsoring our attendance.
